Confirmation
“By the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed” (Lumen Gentium 11).
In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is “sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. To be sealed with the Spirit is to experience an awakening to God in one’s life. It is to learn the spiritual path Jesus teaches in the Gospel. It is to take seriously the challenge to love God, neighbor, and oneself.
Confirmation is typically celebrated in the spring for students in 8th grade who have completed preparation during their 8th grade year.
Please contact the parish office to inquire about registration in our Confirmation program with classes that meet on Sunday mornings starting each September.
